Buffalo Grill swallows Courtepaille
In difficulty since the health crisis, the grill restaurant brand Courtepaille will be taken over by its dynamic competitor Buffalo Grill, whose offer was preferred to that of the giant Groupe Bertrand, number two in catering in France.
Friday, the commercial court of Evry (Essonne) judged the offer of Buffalo Grill "better-priced", both socially with "the takeover of 2,208 employees" out of the 2,477 employees by the sign at the end of August , that financial with "a sale price of 17 million euros" for the takeover of 145 Courtepaille restaurants.
4,000 jobs at the start of 2020
Placed in receivership on July 29, the restaurant brand often located on the edge of highways, with family customers and with a slightly aging image, has 187 restaurants owned and 91 franchisees.
In total, this represented some 4,000 jobs at the beginning of the year, namely a thousand among franchisees and 3,000 within the group's establishments, but the latter figure has fallen due to departures since August 24, said at AFP Buffalo Grill.
"The choice of our project makes it possible to preserve a maximum of jobs", that is to say "89%" and "to envisage for Courtepaille, emblematic brand of French catering, a new dynamic and a serene future", affirmed Jocelyn Olive, the general manager of Buffalo Grill, in a statement to AFP.
The red-roofed "steak house" sign, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and had an annual turnover of 600 million euros before the health crisis, will be based on "the experience that [him ] has enabled the successful transformation and development of Buffalo Grill for several years, ”says Olive.
